About Us
In 1999, four friends came together with a shared vision to introduce palliative care in Nepal. Witnessing the struggles of patients with advanced cancer who had no access to palliative care, they took the first step. With immense dedication and personal sponsorship, they established a modest four-bed palliative care unit within a private hospital, offering free services to those in need.

In 2000, this vision became a reality with the establishment of Hospice Nepal, a registered non-profit, non-governmental organization dedicated to providing compassionate palliative care. Since then, Hospice Nepal has remained committed to ensuring that no patient suffers in silence, offering care, comfort, and dignity to those facing life-limiting illness.

Our Healthcare Services
Inpatient Unit
In the eight bedded unit at Thasikhel, near Patan Hospital, we look after 150-200 patients annually. 50% of patients are discharged home after their symptoms improve. This is free service for patients in the General Ward.
Home-Based Consultation
Hospice Nepal offers compassionate, home-based consultation services throughout the Kathmandu Valley. Each year, we provide personalized palliative care to over 200 patients in the comfort of their own homes. This service is also provided for free.
Rural Community-based Care
In collaboration with Patan Academy of Health Sciences and the Ministry of Health, Bagmati Province, we train local health workers to deliver palliative care in rural communities. This initiative has successfully expanded to most districts within Bagmati Province, bringing essential support to those in need at their doorstep.
